Dear Friends,
At the end of this very long year CWJC wishes you warmest holiday greetings and best wishes.
As we count down the last days of a year with so many people sick and so many losses we also want to remember the “grandmas.” They are getting older and many are passing away. This year we lost Zhou, Tianmei, Liu, Haiyu, Liu, Rongfang, Liu Xsheng and Wu Fengzhen in China, Mak-dal Lee and three others in Korea and Felicidad delos Reyes and Maria Arroyo of the Philippines (there are only 19 Chinese CW survivors, 16 officially registered in Korea, and 12 in the Philippines).
We know there are others from all the other countries, yet they remain nameless. We mourn their passing and their diminishing numbers make the demand for justice from Japan even more urgent. The current government of Prime Minister Suga is just as determined to deny justice as his predecessor, Abe. That’s why CWJC as part of the international movement for justice for “comfort women” will continue our work. There must be an official apology from the Diet, reparations for the survivors and their families and clear and universal education so that gender violence and sexual enslavement can finally be eradicated.
Despite the pandemic, CWJC has been very busy over the past months and we wanted to catch you up on some of our activities. Please click on the link below to learn more about our updates.
