PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The “Comfort Women” Justice Coalition is seeking someone to redesign CWJC’s logo branding to spread and enhance the organization’s message to build further awareness to the suffering of hundreds of thousands of women and girls, euphemistically called “Comfort Women,” who were sexually enslaved by the Japanese Imperial Armed Forces in thirteen Asia-Pacific countries from 1931 to 1945. Most of these women died during their wartime captivity. This dark history was largely hidden for decades until the 1990s when the survivors courageously broke their silence. They helped move the world to declare that sexual violence as a strategy of war is a crime against humanity for which governments must be held accountable.
CWJC is seeking a new logo that will fulfill the following:
- Appeals to a broad audience;
- Emphasizes the timelessness of the issue at-hand;
- Emphasizes strength, resilience, and peace over victimhood and weakness, and the resilience of women around the world;
- Emphasizes the “Comfort Women’s” long search for justice which is still unfulfilled and hence their continual struggle and courage to fight along with all women who are fighting for justice from sex trafficking and violence today.
ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND:
The “Comfort Women” Justice Coalition is a multi-ethnic, multi-interest human rights coalition formed to support the passage of the “Comfort Women” resolution in September 2015 by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. The “Comfort Women,” system is the largest government operated system of sexual slavery and trafficking in the 20th century. We seek to help bring justice for the hundreds of thousands of victims and survivors. Join us to redress the wrongs. Help us design a powerful logo.
